Chief Utility Plant Operator
Salary Range: $56,089.00 - $95,334.00 Annually
Location: 4305 Southport-Supply Rd SE, Southport
Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Chief Utility Plant Operator to join our 211 Water Treatment Plant (WTP), located in Southport, North Carolina at 4305 Southport-Supply Road SE. Brunswick County's 211 WTP is a 6 million gallon per day (MGD) drinking water facility that pulls water from the Castle Hayne Aquifer. The facility utilizes lime softening, up-flow clarifiers, sand filtration and chloramination for disinfection.
Under limited supervision, the Chief Utility Plant Operator performs specialized skilled work related to Brunswick County water treatment facilities and related appurtenances. Work involves the operation of water treatment plant process and related equipment, and coordinating the work of plant operations personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of the County's groundwater treatment plant, including:
The Chief Utility Plant Operator must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assignments. The Chief Utility Plant Operator will also be required to sign as Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) or Backup ORC as required. Reports to the Water Resources Superintendent. Education and Experience
Associate degree in biology, chemistry, or water resource technology AND seven (7) years' experience in a water treatment facility, including four (4) years of experience at a facility with the equivalent classification of the 211 Water Treatment Plant; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
