Drinking Water Technical Assistance Provider Job Description:
South Carolina Rural Water Association (SCRWA), is seeking a water professional responsible for conducting technical assistance for SC utilities located throughout the state. The job responsibilities include but are not limited to providing on-site technical assistance to water utilities in all areas of operation, maintenance, management, compliance, potential compliance, health, and environmental issues. (Examples of on-site technical assistance include leak detection, rate studies, assistance with State and Federal mandate compliance, policy and procedure development, asset management, post enforcement compliance planning, risk and resilience assessments, and emergency response planning.)
A Technical Assistance Technician interprets, reviews, analyzes and explains policies, rules, regulations, legislation, and laws related to rural and small water systems. They consult with staff and others in government, business, and private organizations to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems for rural and small water systems. They initiate and review findings of investigations, surveys, and studies to compare and evaluate possible courses of action and formulate policies and techniques that can be used to recommend improvements for management policies or operations of rural and small water systems. A focus on identifying and facilitating grant and loan funding for the system to achieve capital investment or compliance goals is also a major function. Minimum Qualifications:
SC Water Distribution License and/ or Water treatment license
At least 5 years experience in the water utility industry.
Valid US Driver's License
Geographically located within or directly adjacent to the state of SC
Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel extensively state-wide Compensation:
Starting salary range: $50,000 to $65,000 depending on experience.
