Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Planner Supervisor, assist in the planning of instrumentation, electrical, mechanical and facilities maintenance activities at the water treatment plant and associated remote facilities. This includes materials and tool staging, outside services and equipment procurement, and interfacing with vendors, plant personnel, inter-departmental personnel, and management. Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work planning, inventory control and metrics tracking.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the efficient planning of plant maintenance activities related to maintaining and extending the life of the physical facilities and infrastructure.
Collaborates with the mechanical and electrical maintenance supervisors to develop comprehensive plans for maintenance projects, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance.
Stage tools, equipment and materials for plant projects and planned maintenance.
Utilizes the CMMS for planning and reporting on all maintenance activities.
Maintains the plant inventory of spare parts and repair/installation materials for the plant.
Prepares specifications, solicits vendor quotations, and enters purchase requisitions for maintenance materials and services complying with the CWS procurement policies.
Coordinates with Plant Operations, Engineering, and other internal departments to ensure successful planning of preventive / corrective maintenance and maintenance projects.
Applies analytical thinking to evaluate maintenance needs, anticipate challenges, and make sound decisions under pressure to minimize downtime.
Ability to adapt to agile schedules and priorities to meet changing operational needs and emergencies.
Works safely with and around hazardous treatment chemicals, including polymers, sodium chlorite, phosphoric acid, chlorine gas, and ammonia gas.
May be required to work under hazardous and/or emergency conditions
Regular attendance is required
Job performance must conform to all CWS Policies and Procedures
Specific knowledge of CWS Environmental Management System Policy and Procedures
Additional Duties
Maintain technical manual library and research technical issues.
Supports plant asset management through the alignment of the CMMS with the plant and corporate asset management programs
Research and draft maintenance program standard operating procedures for equipment maintenance
Provide and attend training sessions as appropriate.
Operate forklift and hoists for material and equipment handling.
May be required to attend intra/interdepartmental cross training.
Subject to 24-hour on-call.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Physical Requirements, Activities, and Working Conditions
Ability to effectively communicate in writing, verbally and with a 2-way radio, to include comprehension of complex oral and written instruction.
Ability to express and receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine distinction in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machine parts.
Ability to observe and comprehend computer screens and software to generate reports, specifications, memos, and letters.
Subject to noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Hearing Protection Required
Occasionally positions self to move, traverse and lift up to 50 lbs to perform required work. Objects greater than 50 lbs require a two-person operation.
Ability to reach, pull, handle documents, tools and equipment as required to perform routine tasks. Must be able to turn valve operator wheels and chain mechanisms.
Occasionally positions self to use up to 50 lbs of force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Routinely ascend/descend ladders, stairs and ramps as high as three (3) stories. Ability to work at elevated height levels as needed to perform various task.
Constantly positions self to move, traverse for long distances as necessary to perform required work. Ability to traverse on uneven ground while safely maneuvering equipment on wheels.
Ability to work independently of others.
Constantly works in internal / external environmental conditions. Subject to atmospheric conditions of one or more of the following that affect the respiratory system or skin: Fumes (paint), odors, dusts, gases, etc. Personnel Protective Equipment Required.
Worker will be required to wear a full-face respirator
Required to work with chemicals used in water treatment processes.
Must be able to maneuver large valve operator wheels and chain mechanisms.
Ability to operate and maintain motor vehicles.
Subject to vibrations. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities of whole body.
Ability to navigate restricted spaces such as chemical pits, spiral stairwell, etc as needed to perform required job functions.
Must be able to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to perform the required essential functions.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Associates Degree in science, engineering or a technical field preferred
Minimum of six (6) years' experience in a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related technical field or industrial setting to total six (6) years.
Two (2) years' experience actively using a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Detailed knowledge of maintenance principles, methods, standards, tools, and test equipment in carrying out maintenance effort
Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills by building professional relationships, incorporating feedback, and resolving conflicts to balance urgent demands with long-term goals.
Must be able to demonstrate strong technical writing skills
Strong planning and organizational skills required
Specialized computer and software skills; proficient computer skills with windows-based word processing and spreadsheet software (prefer Word and Excel), MS Project and Visio.
Familiarity with safe handling practices for hazardous materials
Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness
