$1500 HIRING BONUS

New hires receive $750 in their first payroll check and the balance of $750 at the successful completion of the six (6) months orientation period.

The benefit will be taxed; however, associates will receive the face value of the bonus.

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Maintenance Planner Supervisor, this associate assists with management of the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Duties include some knowledge of maintenance and storeroom inventory control; use of equipment technical manuals; interface with vendors and plant personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Maintenance Planner with the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planning and reporting on all maintenance activity for the respective department.
  • Manage and maintain the Maintenance Inventory in the CMMS.
  • Prepare and distribute work orders, preventive maintenance orders, and summary of weekly preventive maintenance activities.
  • Review equipment technical manuals for preparation of standard maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Maintain and update technical manual library and files.
  • Maintain the tool accountability/control system.
  • Maintain plant storeroom, inventory control and consumable supplies for maintenance, process control, and electrical/instrumentation sections.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for inventory and project materials as necessary.
  • Research parts and contacts vendors, pick up and stage parts, receive and inspect material deliveries to insure quality and quantities are accurate.
  • May be required to work during emergency conditions.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Job performance must conform to all CWS policies and procedures.
  • Specific knowledge of CWS Environmental Management System Policy and Procedures.

Additional Duties

  • Performs routine tasks such as general facility maintenance.
  • Maintain technical manual library and research technical issues.
  • Control issuance and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • May be required to work with / around chemicals such as chlorine gas and ammonia gas.
  • May be required to attend intra/interdepartmental cross training.
  • May be required to conduct training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements, Activities, and Working Conditions

  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing, verbally and with a 2-way radio, to include comprehension of complex oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to express and receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Ability to observe and comprehend computer screens and software to generate reports, specifications, memos, and letters.
  • Subject to noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Hearing Protection Required
  • Frequently positions self to move, traverse and lift up to 50 lbs to perform required work. Objects greater than 50 lbs require a two-person operation.
  • Ability to reach, pull, handle documents, tools and equipment as required to perform routine tasks. Must be able to turn valve operator wheels and chain mechanisms.
  • Occasionally positions self to use up to 50 lbs of force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
  • Routinely ascend/descend ladders, stairs and ramps as high as thirteen (13) stories at Plum Island and three (3) stories at Hanahan. Ability to work at elevated height levels as needed to perform various task.
  • Constantly positions self to move, traverse for long distances as necessary to perform required work. Ability to traverse on uneven ground while safely maneuvering equipment on wheels.
  • Ability to work independently of others.
  • Constantly works in internal / external environmental conditions. Subject to atmospheric conditions of one or more of the following that affect the respiratory system or skin: Fumes (paint), odors, dusts, gases, etc. Personnel Protective Equipment Required.
  • Worker may be required to wear a respirator and/or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • Required to work with chemicals used in water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Ability to operate and maintain motor vehicles.
  • Must be able to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to perform the required essential functions.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years experience in an industrial, maintenance or inventory position.
  • Must obtain a forklift education certification within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Specialized computer and software skills; proficient computer skills with windows based word processing and spreadsheet software (prefer Word and Excel) and Visio.
  • Familiarity with safe handling practices for materials.
  • Experience dealing with vendors in ordering inventory.
  • Working knowledge of tools, equipment and machinery in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to work independently of others.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License required.
  • Ability to complete the "D" Level Biological Wastewater Correspondence Course.
